Booking Through Thursday: Harder
This week, Booking Through Thursday asks: All other thing being equal, would you rather read a book that’s hard/challenging/rewarding or light/enjoyable/easy?
It really depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Sometimes I like a challenge, sometimes I just want to float away with an easy book. My mood kind of changes with the seasons as well. As it's gotten colder, I've found myself heading for the heavier fiction or non-fiction tomes than the fun books I read all summer. When it comes to reading, I really just like to have options!
What say you?

Seasonal mood reading? Interesting idea.

I'm with you! I tend to alternate between the 2. I usually go for a challenging read, but with a couple light reads in between, or perhaps going at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI'd take a "hard/challenging/rewarding" book any day. The light & fluffy ones are usually forgettable & since I have a limited amount of reading time due to my chaotic, packed schedule, I figure why waste my time on something I won't remember? My schedule has also made it very easy for me to DNF a book I'm not into. So many books, so little time, right?
ReplyDeleteI am also a seasonal mood reader!
ReplyDeleteLove this question...can it be simple to answer?
ReplyDeleteHopping by... Here's my answer
Mood is a big factor in what you read at the time.

I absolutely agree with everything you said. I've also noticed that I tend to go for heavier material once the temps turn cold :)
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it! Sometimes I want something to stretch my mind, and sometimes I want something a little more mindless. And SOMETIMES, I have both going on at once...a weighty book to challenge me that I set down once in awhile and take a break with lighter fare.
ReplyDeleteHello, Meg! I find myself turning to more literary books and thrillers during the fall and winter seasons - not necessarily more challenging ones, as I'm always up for a challenge!

How interesting that you are a seasonal mood reader! I didn't know there was such a thing, but it does make sense! :)
