I've been following a lot of book blogs for the past couple months and I was more than a little intrigued by it all. I've written reviews on Goodreads for several years but really wanted to expand into something a little more. From that thought, A Bookish Affair was born. Here I hope to share some of the good (and well... not so good books too) that I've read.
So what do I generally read? Just about anything you could recommend to me. My motto is that I've never met a book that I wouldn't at least try! I do, however, have a few favorite genres. I read a lot of historical fiction and non-fiction history as well as biographies. I'm a history buff by nature and love reading about different people and events from the past. I also enjoy reading a lot of general fiction as well.
I'm so happy to join this community of book bloggers!
So if you are a book blogger, what advice do you have for a book blogger just starting out?
My advice? Just follow your instincts. I just read whatever I wanted. It took me almost a year before I felt comfortable contacting my favorite authors for interviews/guest posts, but others did it a lot faster. For early new releases in any genre-check out netgalley.com it's a wonderful resource!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you started book blogging!
The biggest thing that helped me when I first started was twitter. There are some good lists of book bloggers that you can follow and it makes you feel more like part of the community.
ReplyDeleteAlso, sign up for events like Book Blogger Appreciation Week, the Readathon, and Bloggiesta.
It depends on what your goals are, I think. Since you've been reviewing books for some time now, your blog can be a good repository of your reviews.
ReplyDeleteA good way to meet other book bloggers is via the weekly memes and just checking out how other blogs are.
@randomizeme I think my goals for right now are just to meet other book bloggers and to review all of my books. I could see myself expanding into doing author interviews someday!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out the memes and I'm definitely checking out other blogs and trying to meet other bloggers :)
I am another newbie in the booking blogsphere although I have been reading them for years!
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower, I look forward to reading more.
