To Kill a Mockingbird Movie

A couple weeks ago, I got a chance to attend a special event to see To Kill a Mockingbird in the movie theater for the 50th anniversary of the movie's release thanks to Harper Collins (you may remember that I had a giveaway on my blog for more tickets). Although I have seen To Kill a Mockingbird several times (it's one of my favorite movies actually), I had never gotten a chance to see it on the big screen, which was a totally different experience.

My husband and I don't get a chance to go to the movies too much but we love going for the experience itself. Seeing a movie that we both love for the first time on the big screen was so much fun. It was almost like being in the movie theater breathed new life into the movie.

Because this was a special showing of the movie, there was a little snippet before the film about the history of making the movie out of a book. As some of you may know, Atticus Finch was based partially on Harper Lee's own father so it was very interesting to see how Gregory Peck prepared to play him.

This was definitely a great event and I would love to be able to see more classic movies in the theater! We had a blast!

What classic movie would you like to see in the movie theater?

  1. Wow sounds like an awesome event. I read and watched TKAM this year for the first time and loved both.
Hmmm I'd love to see It's a Wonderful Life in theaters. Or The Wizard of Oz!

Hi! Welcome to A Bookish Affair. If you leave a comment, I will try to either reply here or on your site!

As of 6/6/2011, this book is now an awards free zone. While I appreciate the awards, I would rather stick to reviewing more great books for you than trying to fill the requirements.
